Sustainable development

Sustainable development is the organizing principle for meeting human development goals while at the same time sustaining the ability of natural systems to provide the natural resources and ecosystem services upon which the economy and society depend. The desired result is a state of society where living conditions and resource use continue to meet human needs without undermining the integrity and stability of the natural system. Sustainable development can meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations. Sustainable development ties together concern for the carrying capacity of natural systems with the social, political, and economic challenges faced by humanity. Integral elements for sustainable development are research and innovation activities. The focus areas of the sustainable development are sustainable agriculture, sustainable energy, sustainable environment, and sustainable economics.
